Serbia revokes Kadyrov nephew's citizenship

The Serbian government revoked the citizenship of Yakub Zakriev, nephew of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, just five days after issuing him a passport. Prime Minister Djuro Matsut signed the decision, which was published in the Official Gazette. The revocation states Zakriev "can be considered a potential threat to national security," citing Article 184 of the Law on General Administrative Procedure regarding immediate danger to public safety and order. The cancellation occurred less than 24 hours after media reports highlighted the initial grant of citizenship under Article 19 as a foreigner "of interest to the Republic of Serbia."
