ISSP captures Menaka, first city since 2017

The Islamic State in the Sahel Province (ISSP) has captured the city of Menaka in its entirety, marking the first time the Islamic State has taken a city since the collapse of its territory in Iraq and Syria over seven years ago. Russian soldiers stationed at the Menaka base are now surrounded with no escape route, as ISSP does not negotiate. This represents a significant escalation in the Sahel region and a major propaganda victory for the Islamic State.
