MPs reject inquiry into Starmer over Mandelson

UK Members of Parliament have rejected a proposal to hold Prime Minister Keir Starmer accountable through a parliamentary inquiry over the vetting process of Lord Mandelson's diplomatic appointment. Separately, Starmer's former chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, said on Tuesday he had been wrong to propose the appointment of Peter Mandelson as U.S. ambassador but denied circumventing the hiring process.
