Hong Kong authorities should turn the new HK$30 billion (US$3.8 billion) municipal waste incinerator in Tuen Mun into a tourist attraction and an eco-education hub, lawmakers said Tuesday. The government applied to the Legislative Council for HK$29.2 billion to build the Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 2 (I·PARK2), about 20% less than the earlier estimate. Lawmaker Samuel Chui Ho-kwong suggested the facility could promote environmental protection alongside waste management.
