Iraq's Coordination Framework nominates PM candidate

Iraq's Iran-aligned Shiite Coordination Framework has officially nominated Ali al-Zaidi as its candidate for Prime Minister. Al-Zaidi is an entrepreneur and the owner of Al-Janoob Islamic Bank, which is under U.S. sanctions. The nomination follows a deadlock within the coalition, where incumbent Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki were previously considered frontrunners.
