Mali | Africa Corps withdraws from Kidal base

The Russian Africa Corps and the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have withdrawn from a remote garrison in Kidal, preserving their weapons and equipment. Video footage shows the withdrawal column being escorted by militants from the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) and Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM). This follows a prior agreement between the parties for a safe withdrawal from the northern cities of Kidal and Tessalit. The Tuareg separatist FLA has since taken control of the former military camp in Kidal.
