ED raids in Punjab in ex-DIG corruption case

India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches at 11 locations across Punjab, including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Nabha, and Jalandhar. The raids are part of a money laundering investigation linked to former Deputy Inspector General of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar. The case is based on predicate offences registered by the CBI and the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Chandigarh, involving allegations of demanding illegal gratification through a middleman to settle a criminal case. The searches are being carried out under Section 17 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
