Assam police raid rehab center over torture, conversion claims

Police in Assam, India, have raided the 'Nivaran' rehabilitation center in Gauripur, Dhubri district, following allegations of severe abuse. Patients reported being subjected to brutal torture, forced consumption of beef, menial labor, and threats of religious conversion, with five youths reportedly jumping from an upper floor to escape during the raid. Authorities have arrested six individuals and rescued nine patients from the facility. An investigation into the center's operations is now underway.
