Bhutan recognizes Croatia, near-universal recognition

Bhutan has formally recognized Croatia as an independent state, joining nearly all UN members in doing so. The move leaves only Niger in Africa and Tonga in Polynesia yet to recognize Croatia since its 1991 independence. Croatia welcomed the recognition as a milestone strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation. Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom, had been among the few UN members withholding recognition.
