Canada launches AI supercomputer funding program

The Canadian government has officially opened its AI Sovereign Compute Infrastructure Program, a major initiative to fund large-scale, Canadian-owned AI supercomputing systems. The program, which opened on April 15, targets applications in healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and discovery research as part of a national AI sovereignty strategy. Funding is available through multiple streams, including an AI Assist Program for small and medium enterprises offering up to half a million dollars, and an Energy Innovation Program allocating up to $1.5 million per AI project, with the total funding envelope running through 2030.
