Parthenon's western facade restored after 220 years

Restorers have slotted two new marble blocks into long-empty gaps on the Parthenon's western end, making the facade appear whole for the first time in about 220 years. The unveiling took place Thursday at the Acropolis in Athens, offering visitors a restored view of the ancient temple. The 25-century-old monument attracted approximately 4.6 million visitors last year as long-term restoration projects continue to address damage from war and time.
