Trump backs Egypt on Ethiopia dam dispute

This statement reinforces the United States' backing of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the matter. The GERD has been a source of tension between downstream Egypt and upstream Ethiopia since construction began in 2011.
