“Manshiya” was originally a neighborhood called “Neve Shalom” in Hebrew, built as the first Jewish neighborhood outside of Jaffa’s city walls in 1890. It was called both names, until the pogroms of 1929, when many Jews fled massacres. Then, the new Arab area started to become recognized as “Manshiya”. In 1936, the majority of the remaining Jews had to flee too.
