6.7 magnitude earthquake hits Sulawesi

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Sulawesi island on June 11, 2026, followed by strong aftershocks. The initial temblor caused shaking lasting more than a minute in Palu, a city of about 400,000 people and the capital of Central Sulawesi province. Several hospitals evacuated patients, some with IV drips, outdoors as a safety measure. Hotels also evacuated guests, with the general manager of a four-star hotel stating that all guests were moved out, including those who remained in their rooms.
