Flooding raises risk of disease outbreaks in Ghana

The President of the Ghana Association of Public Health Technical Officers, Mr Owusu Ansah Asante, has warned of a heightened risk of disease outbreaks if urgent preventive measures are not taken following recent flooding. Speaking during the peak of the flooding, Asante noted that Ghana's experience shows floods are often followed by communicable diseases due to contaminated water sources, poor sanitation, overcrowding, and increased mosquito breeding. He called for immediate action to mitigate these risks and prevent a public health crisis.
