A Russian helicopter of an unknown type was shot down over Mali, likely by the Azawad Liberation Front. The crew was killed. Heavy fighting is ongoing between the Russian-backed Mali government and JNIM + Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) fighters. Russian and Malian Army forces are currently besieged in a former military base outside the town of Kidal, where heavy fighting is ongoing following failed negotiations aimed at forming an evacuation corridor. JNIM has called on Russia to abstain from the conflict in return for them to not target Russian military bases.
