JNIM fighters mass near Mopti-Sévaré hub

Large numbers of Al-Qaeda-linked Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) militants are reportedly flooding into the city of Sévaré in central Mali. Sévaré, with a population of 40,000, is located just 10 kilometers from the larger city of Mopti, and together they form a critical transport and logistics hub for the region. This movement of fighters suggests a potential new concentration of force near a key urban center, following JNIM's earlier capture of Sévaré's airport and military base. The situation heightens the risk to the combined population of over 100,000 people in the Mopti-Sévaré area.
