JNIM/FLA enter Bourem city in Mali

Forces from the Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) militant group, operating jointly with the Forces for the Liberation of Azawad (FLA), have captured the city of Bourem in Mali's Gao Region. The capture occurred along the Niger River, on the road toward the regional capital of Gao. This seizure is part of the groups' ongoing nationwide offensive, which has seen them capture multiple towns and threaten major urban centers. Malian military forces have been forced into retreat as the insurgent advance continues.
