Macron questions US reliability as an ally

French President Emmanuel Macron has delivered a pointed critique of the United States' reliability as a global partner. Speaking in Athens during a discussion organized by the newspaper Kathimerini, Macron stated, 'The number one power – the US – may be an ally for some countries, but this ally is no longer as reliable.' He clarified that 'no one can fully regard the US as an ally that can be relied upon,' noting that US strategy is not based on European interests. Macron concluded that European countries must 'act more effectively to strengthen our independence.'
