EU Russian LNG ban risks winter reserves

The war in Iran has already disrupted global energy supplies, causing regional gas benchmark prices to surge by roughly 40%. Europe now faces the challenge of purchasing more fuel to replenish depleted reserves before the winter season. The publication notes that if the situation worsens, the European Commission could declare a state of emergency and temporarily allow spot purchases from Russia to resume.
