NATO may pick Swedish GlobalEye for AEW&C

NATO has finalized its decision to replace its aging fleet of Boeing E-3A Sentry Airborne Early Warning and Control (AWACS) aircraft. The alliance will procure 14 Swedish-made Saab–Bombardier GlobalEye aircraft for the mission. This move represents a significant shift in NATO's airborne early warning capabilities and a major procurement win for Sweden. The new fleet is expected to enhance the alliance's surveillance and command-and-control capacity over the coming years.
