Bangladesh to surpass India in per capita GDP: IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects that Bangladesh will overtake India in terms of GDP per capita income in 2026. According to the latest figures, Bangladesh's per capita income is expected to reach $2,911, surpassing India's projected $2,812. This shift highlights Bangladesh's sustained economic growth trajectory relative to its larger neighbor. However, the IMF forecast suggests the lead may be temporary, with India projected to retake the position in 2027 with an estimated per capita GDP of $3,074.
