India seizes cross-border cash near Nepal

A joint police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) team has seized Indian and Nepalese currency worth Rs 85 lakh (approximately 8.5 million rupees) along the Indo-Nepal border in Bahraich. Six individuals were detained in connection with the seizure, which investigators suspect is linked to illegal hawala transactions. The Income Tax Department is now probing the source and destination of the funds, raising fresh concerns over informal cross-border financial channels.
