Belgorod most shelled Russian region in Q1 2026

A report from the Russian Foreign Ministry for the first quarter of 2026 (January-March) states the Belgorod region was the most shelled region of Russia. Its share of the total number of attacks was 33.97%, nearly six times higher than the figure for the Donetsk People's Republic, which ranked fifth. The Kherson, Kursk, and Bryansk regions followed Belgorod in the ranking of most attacked areas. The data highlights the intense cross-border artillery and drone fire targeting Russian border regions from Ukraine.
