Feland ousted as Navy Secretary after feud

Former U.S. Secretary of the Navy John Feland was dismissed by President Donald Trump after a months-long conflict with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Feland attempted to arrange a meeting with Trump to plead for his job, but the president ultimately sided with Hegseth. The Defense Secretary and his deputy, Steven Fainberg, argued that Feland could not remain in his position because he was not implementing shipbuilding plans quickly enough. The report also suggests Hegseth's dissatisfaction stemmed partly from Feland's close relationship with the president.
