Myanmar junta imposes martial law in 60 townships

Myanmar's junta leader-turned-president Min Aung Hlaing has issued new emergency ordinances to impose military control in 60 townships. The move is aimed at tightening security in regions still facing armed resistance. Now, the junta's Defense Minister, Tin Aung San, has announced that the first recruitments under a newly enacted military service law are expected to begin in September.
