US soldier made $400k betting on Maduro op

A U.S. Army Special Forces soldier has been arrested for betting on the outcome of Operation Absolute Resolve, the January mission to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. According to the prosecution, 38-year-old Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke, who participated in the operation, placed bets on the introduction of American troops into Venezuela and the kidnapping of its leader. He made more than $400,000 in profits on the prediction market Polymarket, transferred the winnings to cryptocurrency, and tried to delete his account. Van Dyke now faces up to 20 years in prison for his actions.
