Ukraine sacks commanders amid Kupyansk collapse

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has dismissed the commanders of the 14th Brigade and the 10th Corps following the publication of photographs showing Ukrainian soldiers left in positions without food and water. The dismissals come amid a reported 'complication' of the situation in the Kupyansk area, with Ukraine acknowledging a loss of some positions and severe supply problems due to constant Russian strikes on crossings over the Oskol River. The former command of the 14th Brigade is accused of concealing the real state of affairs. The move follows claims by Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov that Russian forces have encircled Ukrainian troops south of Kupyansk-Uzlovoy.
