US seizes tanker carrying Iranian oil

US forces have interdicted two dark fleet tankers in the Indian Ocean, seizing approximately 1.9 million barrels of Iranian oil from each vessel. The overnight seizure of the M/T Majestic (formerly M/T Phonix) was followed this week by the interdiction of the M/T Tifani. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia stated the actions were taken pursuant to federal seizure warrants. The US government vows to continue using all lawful authority to track and seize illicit Iranian oil shipments.
