EU bans tanker sales to Russia in 20th sanctions package

The European Union has formally adopted its 20th sanctions package targeting Russia, detailing a wide range of new restrictions. The measures include a ban on European companies selling tankers to Russia and a prohibition on providing Russian companies with LNG terminal services starting in 2027. The package also bans transactions with 20 Russian banks, imposes stricter diamond traceability rules, and prohibits operations with the ports of Murmansk and Tuapse as well as an oil terminal in Indonesia. Notably, the introduction of a ban on the supply of Russian oil by European companies has been postponed.
