UK-France extend Channel migrant deal

The United Kingdom and France have renewed and expanded their agreement to combat irregular migration across the English Channel. As part of the deal, France will increase the number of its security forces deployed on the coast by more than half, reaching 1,400 officers by 2029. In return, the United Kingdom is to provide up to 766 million euros in funding to support the effort. The arrangement continues the longstanding cooperation between the two nations on this contentious issue.
