US Air Force to double F-15EX fleet size

The US Air Force is significantly expanding its planned acquisition of F-15EX Eagle II fighters, with a new total target of 267 aircraft. This figure more than doubles previous fleet size forecasts for the advanced fighter. The service's budget for fiscal year 2027 includes funding for 24 new F-15EXs, with dozens more purchases planned in subsequent years. The expansion aims to form dedicated F-15EX units and begin modernizing the aging fleet of F-15E Strike Eagles.
