Germany unveils 'strongest army' strategy

Germany has presented its most extensive military planning reform in decades, aiming to transform the Bundeswehr into the strongest conventional army in Europe by 2039. The package includes the country's first independent military strategy, titled 'Responsibility for Europe,' which identifies Russia as the primary threat and outlines scenarios for potential attacks on NATO territory. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius presented the non-classified parts of the documents at a press conference in Berlin, shifting focus from rigid equipment counts to a flexible, results-oriented planning model. Priority capability areas mentioned include precision strikes and countering hypersonic missiles and drones.
