Israel targets Christian villages in Lebanon

Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have targeted Christian communities in March and April 2026. On March 9, Israeli forces killed Father Pierre al-Rahi in Qlayaa after he refused to evacuate his village. On April 19, images emerged showing Israeli soldiers damaging a statue of the crucified Jesus Christ in Debl, while other units demolished Christian symbols in the area. Christian towns remain under siege, with limited supplies facilitated by UNIFIL troops.
