EU drops Russian oil transport ban from sanctions

The European Commission has excluded a ban on the transportation of Russian oil from the bloc's 20th sanctions package against Russia. This measure was considered a key element of the new sanctions package, but has been omitted from the final proposal. The package is expected to be adopted after Slovakia and Hungary dropped their opposition, clearing the way for a €90 billion loan for Ukraine.
