Iran executes man for spying for Israel

Iran has executed Mehdi Farid, a 48-year-old former employee of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), on charges of spying for Israel's Mossad. The judiciary announced the execution early this morning, with the Mizan News Agency identifying him as an employee of a sensitive civil defense institution. Human rights organizations state Farid had been detained since the winter of 2022, and he was executed on what they describe as false charges of espionage.
