Third conviction in Shivamogga ISIS plot

A special court of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Bengaluru has convicted a third individual in the 2022 Shivamogga ISIS terror conspiracy case. The accused, Arafath Ali, was sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment for his role in the plot. The NIA stated that Arafath fled India in 2020 to evade arrest in another terror case and was arrested upon his return in 2023. Investigations found he was actively involved in propagating ISIS ideology, radicalizing youth for the Shivamogga-based module, and instigating pro-ISIS and pro-Lashkar-e-Taiba graffiti in Mangaluru.
