Russia intends to stop oil exports from Kazakhstan to Germany starting May 1, reports Reuters. It is reported that a 'revised' oil export schedule has already been sent to Astana and Berlin. The cessation of supplies from Kazakhstan will exacerbate uncertainty in Germany's energy supply, as the war with Iran disrupts supplies from the Middle East. Oil exports from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Russian 'Druzhba' pipeline amounted to 730,000 tons in the first quarter of 2026. A complete halt in exports will lead to a reduction of approximately 17% in the volume of oil processed by the German PCK refinery, one of the largest in the country.
