Russian volunteer dies 23 days after contract

A 33-year-old volunteer from Russia's Belgorod region, Artem Popov, has been killed in the war in Ukraine. According to a local official, he died on November 30, 2024, near the village of Kolesnikovka in the Kharkiv region, a mere 23 days after signing his contract. The volunteer group 'Pepel' reports his death is the 1,296th confirmed fatality from the Belgorod region, part of a total of 2,629 regional residents they have documented as killed in Ukraine and border areas since the war began.
