Ukraine repels major Russian drone, missile attack

Ukrainian forces intercepted a large-scale Russian aerial assault overnight from April 20-21, 2026. The attack involved approximately 80 Shahed-type drones, Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and other unspecified munitions. According to Ukrainian reports, air defenses successfully downed or suppressed 116 of the 143 drones launched and intercepted one missile. The attack appears to be the major combined strike that Ukrainian intelligence had warned was imminent.
