Armenia to pursue EU membership, leave EAEU

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Armenia will continue its strategic course toward joining the European Union. He clarified that the country will remain a member of the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) only until the moment of its accession to the EU, after which it will withdraw. This declaration reinforces Armenia's pivot away from Moscow's sphere of influence and toward deeper integration with Europe. The move is likely to further strain relations with Russia, Armenia's traditional security guarantor.
