India deploys massive security for West Bengal elections

India's Election Commission (ECI) is rolling out a massive, multi-layered security framework for elections in the state of West Bengal. The plan includes a 'Lakshman Rekha' 100-meter outer perimeter for voter verification, body cameras on security personnel and micro-observers, and GPS tracking on all Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) quick response vehicles. The ECI has also taken control of all government-installed CCTV cameras across roads, hospitals, and offices, and will deploy AI-enabled booth cameras to provide 360-degree real-time feeds to central control rooms.
