The Russian government has introduced a special support measure for students in the Belgorod region, which has been subject to frequent cross-border attacks. A total of 8,365 ninth-graders and 3,068 eleventh-graders will be exempt from taking the mandatory OGE and EGE state exams to receive their diplomas this year. Eleventh-grade students are given a choice to either forgo the EGE and apply to universities via internal entrance exams or take the standard procedure. Students wishing to use the benefit must decide and submit an application by May 15, either remotely via the 'Virtual School' platform or in person.
