EU launches biometric Entry-Exit System

The European Union is launching a new Entry-Exit System (EES) to digitally and biometrically record the entry and exit of millions of third-country nationals at its external borders. Starting in April, the system will use fingerprints and facial images instead of traditional passport stamps to better monitor stays and increase security. This primarily affects regular entries into the Schengen area, representing a major shift in border control infrastructure. The move is intended to automate border checks and more accurately track overstays.
