Iran escalates Hormuz closure, attacks US ships

Iran has escalated its confrontation with the United States by reportedly closing the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers for the first time, according to Fars News Agency. Concurrently, the Tasnim news agency claims Iranian forces conducted a drone attack targeting U.S. warships in the Gulf region. In diplomatic statements to Al Mayadeen and IRIB, Iranian officials rejected any halt to uranium enrichment, dismissed participation in new talks due to U.S. demands, and deemed a positive outcome unlikely. The Iranian navy also reportedly fired warning shots at a French CMA CGM vessel in the strait, while state media announced mass arrests and seizures of weapons and espionage devices.
