India seizes 58 JeI-linked schools in Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has seized management control of 58 private schools linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its affiliate, the Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT). This action aims to curb the influence of the banned Islamist organization in the education sector. The move is part of a broader crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami's network in the region, which was banned in 2019 for alleged anti-national activities. The government asserts the takeover is necessary to ensure schools are not used for propagating separatist ideology.
