Canada launches new Grocery Benefit top-up

The Canadian government is rolling out a one-time top-up to its Grocery Benefit, with payments hitting bank accounts on June 5. Over 12 million Canadian households will receive the automatic payment, with families of four eligible for up to CAD 533 and single-person households receiving CAD 267. Starting July 3, the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit will permanently replace the GST credit, increasing regular quarterly payments by 25 percent through 2031.
