UK loses track of thousands of military reservists

A report by The Guardian reveals that the UK has lost track of tens of thousands of military reservists. All discharged British military personnel can be recalled to service in a national emergency, forming a 'strategic reserve' intended to be about 95,000 strong. However, officials have failed to keep a full record of their contact details, particularly for those whose service ended more than six years ago. This administrative failure means the government cannot reliably contact a significant portion of its strategic reserve in a crisis.
