Russia's Geran drones use foreign mobile internet

A senior advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Defense has revealed that Russian 'Geran' (Shahed) strike drones are using mobile internet from neighboring countries for navigation and targeting. Serhiy 'Flash' Beskrestnov stated the drones are equipped with SIM cards from a Russian mobile operator, but because roaming is blocked in Ukraine, they connect to networks in Belarus, Poland, and Romania. This tactic allows the drones to maintain communication and guidance signals while flying over Ukrainian territory. The disclosure highlights an ongoing technological adaptation in Russia's long-range drone campaign against Ukraine.
