Colombia's Petro alleges foreign election meddling

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has made a series of allegations accusing foreign and domestic actors of attempting to influence Colombia's elections. He claims former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe, Ecuadorian leader Daniel Noboa, and far-right circles in the US and Ecuador are coordinating to spread false information. Petro further alleges that Ecuadorian authorities received instructions from the US State Department to find individuals willing to file accusations against him to get him placed on US sanctions lists. Separately, Petro stated he asked US President Donald Trump to mediate his relationship with Noboa, but the matter was referred to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
